I got booted out of a chat room. I did a restore on my system because I did not like the new Messenger. I lost my emoticons both in a chat room & on im's. How do I get them back

Hey my Emoticons boot me out too as do my audibles i have reinstalled like 5 times. I have found an older version of yahoo messenger and it works fine then i get a message to update for the old version will not be supported much longer so i update to the new yahoo messenger 6 version and same thing yahoo messenger closes when i try to use emotiocons. Yahoo messenger version 6 also closes when i hit the audibles button then hit more audibles. i can use the audibels but only the ones i see i cant hit the more audibles button or yahoo messenger closes. Oh yeah one other thing i noticed too is when i right click to past something yahoo messenger closes but i can do control v to paste. Any suggestions i have only been having these problems since the new version came out. version 6 that is

This sounds like a Windows Skinning program is the cause, such as alienguise or windowblinds. If you use windowblinds, you need to select yahoo! messenger in the per application settings, and disable skinning of it, it may be listed as yahoo! messenger or ypager. If it's another program, look for similar settings, if they don't exist, you might have to disable the skinning program to use messenger. |

Thanks sooooo Much HelpBytes that worked. I use windowblinds so i just disabled it for that app. Cant thank you enough. Thanks Gone_Mad. |

We didn't really know what this was for a long time, until two things happened. First, another chatter found some info on the WackyB forums (Savage_Charms) which had a fix, and a user emailed me and told me it was since he installed AlienGUIse, which uses a similar system underneath. Anyway, glad we can now recommend this solution to people :-) |
